Shively Acoustics International (SAI) offers audio consulting and engineering services in five principal areas: Automotive, Consumer, Personal, and Pro Audio, as well as Architectural Acoustics. We are seasoned industry professionals drawing on nearly 40 years experience spanning the globe in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) design and development.

Our business is focused yet flexible and can take on projects of any size at any scale – from the development of single audio components to the integration of entire complex systems – for any level of quality, from basic to branded. To ensure that we always meet the highest requirements for a first-class sound experience for our customers, we work directly with the engineering teams at the OEMs and ODMs.

Shively Acoustics is truly international in that we operate alongside talented and qualified colleagues and partners in seven different countries across North America, Europe, and Asia, while counting some of the world’s top manufacturers in the automotive, entertainment, and consumer electronics industries among our customers.

Roger Shively

Founder, President & CEO

Roger Shively (Seattle, WA) is the founder, president, and CEO of Shively Acoustics International. He has a background of almost 40 years in engineering research and development, with significant experience in product realization and in new product launches at OEM manufacturers around the world. Before SAI, he co-founded JJR Acoustics in 2011 and was a principal of the company until 2023. Prior to that, he worked as Chief Engineer of Acoustic Systems and functional manager for North American and Asian engineering product development teams in the Automotive Division of Harman International Industries, Inc., a journey that began in 1986.

Born and raised in Indiana, Roger received his degree in Acoustical Engineering from Purdue University in 1983 and finished post-graduate work in the field of finite element analysis. In September 2022, he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Purdue’s School of Engineering Education.

A member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), Acoustical Society of America (ASA), Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE), and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Roger has published numerous research papers and articles in the areas of transducers, automotive audio, psychoacoustics, and computer modeling. He also holds patents related to the design of advanced acoustic systems and applications, particularly in the field of automotive audio.

Roger serves as Co-Chair of the AES Automotive Audio Technical Committee (TC-AA) and Chair of the Automotive Audio Educational Pillar of the Audio Product Development Alliance (APDA). He was awarded the Board of Governors Award in recognition of his chairing of the 2022 AES International Conference on Automotive Audio in Detroit.

He is also the head of Silentium USA, Inc., the North American subsidiary of Silentium, Ltd. established in January 2025.
